October 31st is All Souls' Day, while November 1st is All Saints' Day. This is typical of the christianising of Ireland and other 'pagan' cultures. Having failed to quell the pagan rituals, etc., the Christian churches of the time tried to turn them into something Christian and make Christian festivals out of them.
